The funny thing about coding is that when you get “in the zone,” its hard to pry yourself away, and you end up staying up until 9am the next morning flippin bits. Anyway, that’s what I ended up doing the other day when we added some new features. Although we make minor updates daily, a bunch of major changes went in that you should know about.
First of all we have a sweet new logo and some shmancy buttons. People had a hard time telling that the old buttons were actually buttons. Hopefully this corrects that issue. You’ll see a search bar up top that lets you search questions and answers on the site. We also updated the search to run from light speed to ludicrous speed…because light speed was too slow.
You’ll also notice that when you’re viewing questions and answers you can “Save the Question” for later in case you want to check up on new responses. Where can you view these saved questions? When you have an account and you’re logged in, you’ll see a “Home” page on the navigation bar at the top of the screen. On this page there’s a tab for your precious saved questions. This page will also show you your friends’ recent activity (Stuff they voted on, stuff they’re discussing and stuff they’re asking about) .
Another feature we added is the ability to add a Youtube video to your recommendations. This way if your friend is looking to learn how to cook oysters, you can point them to a how-to-video and say “Try this!” (that’s right, I went there)
We shifted around the front page so the recent suggestions moved to the top. I think its easier to see it this way.
Stay tuned for more updates and the upcoming contest where you can have a chance to win stuff by doing very little.
